Hey George,

I'll work towards improving the way the connections are, but because of the
large size of the network, the fact that it's invisible in imagery & GPS is
useless, and I can only remember so much, it might take some time to make
it perfect. It's a bit of a wild west of connections down there and there
can be many connections to the surface contained within one city block (8+
in some cases) with a mix of stairs, escalators, and elevators with varying
levels of access based around the time of day.

1. Entrances are only mapped sometimes. Currently on OSM it seems that the
underground PATH connects directly with the above ground network rather
than having an elevator or stairway between the level change. In the
latest updates I've made I've added in escalators, elevators, and stairs
and connected them to the PATH (level=-1) or the ground level network with
an entrance node included on its intersection with the building. One thing
I've also noticed is that the PATH footways are marked using layer=-1, not
level=-1 - I don't know if this makes a difference to OSRM.

2. I've been linking the entrances with indoor footways that connect to the
PATH via elevators and escalators/stairs and then linking the other side of
the entrance node to the sidewalks or roads so that it should be able to
route between the two networks.

If you have any suggestions or comments please tell us.

Thanks for the heads up,
Kevin (Kevo)
