Based at the CERN research facility outside Geneva, Switzerland, UNOSAT was initially created as a project within UNITAR in 2001 and subsequently became a full-fledged Program in 2006. UNOSAT utilizes geospatial technologies to address critical international issues in the areas of human rights and security, disaster response, humanitarian relief and territorial development planning.
