Glasgow and the 25th sounds good. May I propose (a slightly unoriginal choice of ) Counting House on George Square; it's central, close to train station for Edinburgh folks, and cheap. http://www.openstreetmap.org/?lat=55.861&lon=-4.252&zoom=17&layers=B0FT As for mapping - Glasgow city center is mostly mapped in terms of streets but doesn't have too many POIs; so if you want to do some mapping before hand maybe grab some on the way there....
