That seems reasonable to me. It is a shame there is no official implementation for this but I guess holidays aren't parsed that often anyway and this is quite a niche case to warrant changing the scheme.
I will implement this for now and yes I will probably extend summer to June and September (I don't think there are any half term holidays in those months so it should only capture the summer holiday).
