I was using an older Garmin etrex Legend HC as a backup track recorder over the New Year, and failed to find my tracks. It turns out that the date is incorrect and instead of 1st Jan 2020 the device was registering 17 May 2000.
Anyone who still uses these may be interested that a firmware patch is available: (https://support.garmin.com/en-GB/?faq=qpVUfZBKI28PqnPd6HuXa6. I've run this from Windows 10 successfully for my GPS. Happy New Year, Jerry
