Wouldn't a simple historic:advertising=sign work?
The nearest one I know about is https://www.openstreetmap.org/way/468790357 and it is tagged line this:advertising <https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Key:advertising?uselang=en-GB> wall_painting <https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Tag:advertising=wall painting?uselang=en-GB> artwork_type <https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Key:artwork type?uselang=en-GB> mural <https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Tag:artwork type=mural?uselang=en-GB> image <https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Key:image?uselang=en-GB> https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Bile_Beans_-_geograph.org.uk_-_608516.jpg inscription <https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Key:inscription?uselang=en-GB> Nightly Bile Beans Keep you Healthy Bright-eyed & Slim name <https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Key:name?uselang=en-GB> Bile Beans note <https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Key:note?uselang=en-GB> was originally an advert, but is now more of a local landmark tourism <https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Key:tourism?uselang=en-GB> artwork <https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Tag:tourism=artwork?uselang=en-GB>
Arguably none of that is wrong. I added the image link just now: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Bile_Beans_keep_you_healthy_-_geograph.org.uk_-_3250464.jpg Looking at "advertising" in taginfo gives a couple of other options though: https://taginfo.openstreetmap.org/search?q=advertisingon that list, "was:advertising" is fairly prominent (but seems to be for removed, former, examples) and "historic:advertising" only once:
