Thats a great question. In short, we must first understand that data is not
available from Google Maps like we have in OSM, for instance try to get the
data for all the parks in Mumbai from any other map
http://overpass-turbo.eu/s/ei9 . So there really is no comparison with any
other service with this level of access to the raw data.

Everyone who uses OSM sees value in some domain of data of their interest,
for me it is a lot of environmental and civic infrastructure like trees,
waterways, public transit routes and stops, parks, landfills, trash cans,
cycle lanes..

And everyone has the freedom to use the data in the application that makes
most sense for instance local language maps:
