Hello everyone -

We're happy to announce that the 2013 State of the Map US conference will
be in beautiful San Francisco at the Mission Bay Conference Center June
8-9. There will be a day of workshops on June 7 and a hack day on June 10.
Head over to the announcement on the OpenStreetMap US blog for more details:

http://openstreetmap.us/state-of-the-map-us-2013

We're looking forward to four days of learning about the newest and
greatest in OpenStreetMap and to catch up with everybody in person. This is
an early announcement, stay tuned here on the list, follow @sotmus on
twitter, and watch the website stateofthemap.us for updates on:

- Call for proposals
- Details on the scholarship program and how to apply
- Updates on the workshops and how to sign up

We're also looking for volunteers to help with planning the conference,
specifically helping with outreach. If you're interested, join the [State
of the Map SF google group](
https://groups.google.com/forum/#!forum/sotm-sf-planning).

This announcement culminates a planning process we kicked off in November
[1]. This will be the first time State of the Map US conference takes place
in the first half of the year, positioning us better with an international
State of the Map conference which will very likely take place in the fall
[2]. To move the conference into the first half of the year we have
expedited planning and foregone a formal call for venue proposals this
year, expect one for 2014 opening in San Francisco.

For updates, watch this list, [@sotmus](http://twitter.com/sotmus), and [
stateofthemap.us](http://stateofthemap.us/).

Looking forward to seeing many of you in San Francisco!

Alex
