Oh, the -ops in the URL threw me off. Your link is to the attribution page for flightstats.com, not American Airlines. And flightstats.com is serving up their own tiles. They started using OSM back in 2011 or 2012 when Google started charging for maps. Wm Leler from flightstats.com presented at the 2012 SOTM-US conference in Portland.
