Have you tried talking to this mapper about his criticisms and finding some common ground? I'm certain you can find an agreeable way to map the things you want to map.
The mailing list is not the place to air your interpersonal disputes. If you don't want to draw scrutiny and criticism to your own edits, I suggest trying to resolve conflicts privately and collaboratively before escalating them to a public forum.
