Indeed, if address nodes were mapped at locations of entrances then
importing points with addresses as entrances would be preferable. Yet, the
imported address points are not at entrances' locations, but rather at
centroids of corresponding parcels, so matching them to buildings requires
parcels as an intermediate layer. In the case when multiple house numbers
are within the same building, they are usually combined into a
";"-separated list, e.g. [addr:housenumber = 101;103;105] -- Nominatim can
find addresses that are mapped using ";"-separated lists.
