I just discovered that OSM has an "audit" function that helps us find errors such as segments that is not part of ways. It's called maplint (after the programming tool). To use it, go to http://dev.openstreetmap.org/~ojw/Browse/?lat=-33.93598&lon=18.50681<http://dev.openstreetmap.org/%7Eojw/Browse/?lat=-33.93598&lon=18.50681> substituting the lat & lon, zoom in to around level 16 and click on maplint. (If only I knew of it before I got going). Some of the errors it points out, like duplicate nodes, are due to JOSM hanging up and having to be restarted. -- I've been using that JOSM plugin to download landsat data and extend the N14 a little bit. But it will be better use of manpower if we can get someone who travels the route to record a track. -- I've been ill but will contribute more to the Pretoria map soon.
