Hi Lindy-Anne We indeed have the mirror hosted at University of Pretoria. I am, myself, unfortunately not in south Africa right now, and will only return end of next week. If you contact me directly (and if it is still in time according to your schedule) I'd be happy to help and writing the data to disk/DVD, for example.
You're welcome to contact me directly week after next. Best, Johan Joubert johan.joub...@up.ac.za Prof Johan W. Maybe someone with an uncapped local Internet connection in Cape Town could help? I highly recommend first limiting yourself to smaller extracts. There are 2 "poly" files available here for cutting/extracting out South Africa: http://grant.dev.openstreetmap.org/tmp/za-poly/ The simplified version is a rough cut version, which keeps outside the South African borders. Both polygon files ignore Prince Edward Islands. I have asked Peter K?rner, if he has a chance, to create a full history South Africa extract. Geofrabrik create regular South Africa extracts available here: http://download.geofabrik.de/osm/africa/ (current items only, not full history) Keeping extracts current can be achieved using diffs... I have a very simple script which uses osmosis to keep my South African extract of the railway network current: http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/User:Firefishy/za-rail-script Kind regards Grant ------------------------------ _______________________________________________ Talk-ZA mailing list Talk-ZA@openstreetmap.org http://lists.openstreetmap.org/listinfo/talk-za End of Talk-ZA Digest, Vol 97, Issue 1 **************************************
