It's actually not all that uncommon. I mean, it's no Smith, Jones, Johnson, or anything like that, but there are quite a number of Perdues here. There's even a Purdue University spelled with a U instead of an E: www.purdue.edu. Everyone seems to think my last name has this second U in it when it doesn't, because this is the other common way of spelling it. I applied there in 2002, and they didn't like me much. But but, it's almost my university!
