Ok, we all must adopt hippie names like this! To create your own hippie
name, simply substitute the name of a flower or insect for your middle
name and either keep your last name as is, or replace your last name
with your middle name. Note that if you have a middle name that would
sound more academic if altered slightly, feel free to do so.) For
example, I, for the next day or so, shall refer to myself as John
Chrysanthemum Michaels.

Subject: Julia Butterfly Hill This Sunday

Celebrate Earth Day this Sunday with internationally recognized
environmentalist and author Julia Butterfly Hill at the Main Auditorium
at 7:00 p.m. (Doors open at 6:00 p.m.). A book signing will follow.

Julia Butterfly Hill brought international attention to the plight of
the worlds last remaining ancient forests when she climbed 180 feet into
the branches of a 1000 year-old redwood tree and refused to come down.
Her historic protest to the environmental destruction caused by the
clear-cutting of ancient redwoods culminated after 738 days with an
agreement that provided permanent protection for the tree known as Luna
and a 3 acre buffer-zone around it.

Julia Butterfly Hill is an activist, a writer and a poet. She is the
author of the national best seller The Legacy of Luna and the co-author
of One Makes The Difference, both published by HarperSanFrancisco. The
audio release, Spiritual Activation, captures Julias vital message as it
is given at standing-room-only appearances across the country. All of
Julias books (and the packaging for the CD) have been published with
100% post-consumer recycled paper with soy-based inks and chlorine-free
processing, pushing the publishing industry to a higher standard of
ecological sustainability.

The recipient of numerous prestigious awards and distinctive honors,
Julia Butterfly Hill is one of the most internationally recognizable
figures in environmental activism.

Julias book, The Legacy of Luna, based on her personal account of the
Luna tree-sit action, will soon be made into a major motion picture.
The films producing team, whose credits include Ray, Adaptation,
Philadelphia and The Silence Of The Lambs among others, have publicly
announced their commitment to setting a green set standard for the film
industry with this project. It is evident that Julia is once again
leaving an indelible mark on yet another industry, this time Hollywood.

Julia founded the non-profit organization, Circle of Life
(www.circleoflife.org) to promote the sustainability, restoration and
preservation of life. She is also the brainchild behind We The Planet
(www.wetheplanet.org), a programmatic project of Circle of Life. Julia
Butterfly Hill speaks regularly on university campuses, has addressed
the United Nations, lobbied congress, and has continued to stand on the
front lines of environmental and social justice issues all over the
world. Her courage, conviction and profound clarity in articulating a
message of hope, empowerment and love and respect for all life has
inspired millions of people worldwide.
