I have to agree with you about the people liking Barry Manilow under 50
comment but that's all.
In my musical opinion, he doesn't have much talent as a vocalist whereas you
could argue that Josh groben does, but what he lacks in honest to goodness
vocal talent, he makes up for it as a musician with his ability to write and
arrange. Ok, so lots of his stuff is pure cheese, but the fact still
remains that he has been in this industry for a long time, and done all
sorts of work on his own and for others.
And no, for the record, even though Josh groben can sing being trained and
all, that is not what necessarily makes someone pleasing to listen too.
About the only thing that they have in common though, is their fan's age
range.
I'm hardly the picky person when it comes to that seeing as my musical
tastes range from classical and jazz to rock including stuff like Clutch and
Tool--and all sorts of stuff in between, but I've seen a biography on
Manilow, and what's awesome and warrants his respect even if you're not into
him, is that the guy knows that he isn't first and foremost a singer.
He, apparently, from what I've seen, was just amazed as the rest of us that
people enjoyed his singing. He is a musician and an entertainer, but God,
why in hell won't he fix his knows? I'd bet that it'd do something about
his tambour. *smiles*
I saw an interview that he did when Here At The Mayflower came out--think it
was the Tonight show or something--anyway, he Produced, Composed and
Arranged all of the material for that cd, as well as played the majority of
the instruments. Doubt me? Go and pull up the credits, I did, just in case
what I remembered was wrong.
The point? Like it or not, he has talent as a musician, and even though
sometimes I wonder if he is still stuck in the 70's, he has managed to set
himself apart and still have dedicated fans, in an age, where unfortunately
the whole pop boy band exists, and people like Britney Spears and Avril
Lavigne are considered fabulous. Sorry--my dislike for lots of pop sort of
entered in there and I didn't mean for it to. hehheh
Anyway, like him or not, he is among the ranks of all those who will remain
timeless.
And before I get off of my musical soap box, a quote from Barry himself:
which sums it up nicely in my opinion:
"I am a musician. My passion for music has obliterated everything in its
path for my entire life. Whenever there was a choice between music and
anything
else, music won hands down every time. No one person or material thing could
ever come close to the feeling I get when the music is right. I am totally
committed to my music and my fans." - Barry Manilow
In closing, how many can say that and have proof to back it up with?
Ok I'm done now. Bet all are glad of that!

windows."

The only problem I see with a barry fest, is that the goal of any station,
online or not is to atract listeners. I know, some people are concerned
with the quality of such listeners and well, if were going to be concerned
with listener quality, barry fans are either to old, or just young and
strange. Face it, if you like barry and your under 50, there's something
badly wrong, right?
In another 30 years, Josh groben will also be demoted to this status all
though some say he already is.

I couldn't have said it any better myself!
Cluck, cluck, cluck!
Oh--and Doug,
perhaps as punishment for your--hen-hater personality of late, we should
set
up a Mani-marathon on TBRN. I'm talking an extremely long Barry Manilow
music playing fest! All Barry, all, the, time!
Before avid listeners begin grumbling, be quiet, or the hens" will peck at
you!
Listeners of Mary Ann's show and knowledge of Doug's hehheh "liking" not,
for Barry Manilow will understand.
That'll teach ya to be a hen hater!
In closing, may I say:
Cluck, cluck to all, and have a clucking awesome day!
I'm getting the cluck out of here!

hen-make-funner-ofers!
The following is a well-meaning and all-in-good-fun example of an Amy or

You two add a warmth and spirit that has re-invigorated the TBRN-o-verse.
We're all blessed to have your banterings. They make Kung Fu Docta smire

So shut the cluck up! Heheheheh.

Patrick,
Two things. First, I noticed you changed your quoty thing so it says,
"Mary Ann," instead of "Mary." Aww. That makes me feel special. Thanks.
Second, that is the only thing that has saved you from the wrath of one
said hen.
We, *cluck*, are, *cluck*, not, *cluck*, hens! *cluck*
You're lucky I like ya. Hah!
