I have a sub I use in all my scripts that utilize Excel:

This keeps me from having to have the spreadsheet name change in each
script.

Sub WaitForExcelToShutDown()

Dim obj As Object

On Error GoTo trap

Do

    Set obj = GetObject(, "Excel.Application") 'this will fail if
Excel Isnt running

    obj.quit

    Set obj = Nothing

    Wait 2

Loop

Exit Sub

trap:

    'we're in the clear

End Sub

After saving, I use this code to close down my spreadsheets;

Windows("spreadsheetname.xls").Close

I date my spreadsheets in the name when saving so I modify the above to;

Windows("somename"& Format(Now, "mmddyy") & ".xls").Close

P.s. you might need one of these before the .Close statement, but I'm
not sure;

Windows("spreadsheetname.xls").Activate

Subject: [talkbws] Run BWS using batch file and a VBA question

Good afternoon All,

Can anyone show me how to run BWS using batch file? Also, I'm using the
following code to close two excel files and excel application, but it
keep opening a new workbook. Any ideas how I can close excel
application?

Application.DisplayAlerts = False

ActiveWorkbook.close True

ActiveWorkbook.close False

ActiveWindow.close

Many Thanks,

Thomas
