I had a similar issue with SendFTP when we had two different versions for test and live. I had to upgrade my test to match my live and then found that the newer version was formatted a little different then the old version. So when I would try to run it on the updated system it was missing information and wouldn't work. I would suggest either upgrading your test or trying to regenerate a SendMail on the 9.6 client. I tried the same simple SendMail statement on our test server with 9.5 installed and it worked, tried it on our server with 9.6 installed and nothing. I've been working with our Network team, and they haven't even seen any emails come from the server that has 9.6 installed. They are looking into it as well, but thought I'd inquire here as well.
