Greetings,

There have been several new scripts added to the Script Center. You will also notice a new naming convention in the Script Center – a prefix of V8 Rules. This means the script has been written in the Rules format – there will be instructions in the script’s description on how to add it to your project.

 

As you may know, Version 8 provides two ways of scripting – Rules and Procedural. Procedural is the format scripts were written in Version 6.5 and 7.0. Having two different ways of scripting allows Version 8 to run and edit scripts written in prior versions WITHOUT needing to change them – and you can keep scripting the way you always have if you want to! Also keep in mind that there are new commands and features in Version 8 that are available for use with both Rules and Procedural style scripting.

 

The Rules based format is simply a new way of scripting that is more graphically oriented – underneath, it uses the same “scripting engine”. If you ever had problems learning how to do If AT statements, do-loops, etc. then it is well worth your time to look at Rules based scripting.
