Greetings,

When you say split it up - you mean you want the script to pick up later and
run records 2000 to x?

To have a script jump to a step based on a record number.there are several
ways to do this.

This is one that also illustrates a helpful "trick" - how to make one rule
act like it has more than one Goto.

1. Create a Step (you'll need to "goto" this step at a logical point
in your script - probably after you get the next record from the file

2. Add a Rule to it (condition Always)

3.       In the Action use:

If D.record = 2000 then

                Step = "GEN Report"

                Exit sub

Else

                Step ="Where to go if d.record is < 2000

                Exit sub

End if

If you want this to work .J

It is VERY important to use Exit sub - and not have a Goto on this Rule.

I can extend this trick to have more than 2 Gotos -and could use either if
then / else or Select Case:

Here's an example of using Select Case in a Rules' Action..

Select Case True

                Case A=B

                                Step="A equaled B"

                                Exit Sub

                Case B=C

                                Step="B equaled C"

                                Exit Sub

                Case Thom="Hopefully didn't confuse anyone"

                                Step="Successful Answer"

                                Exit Sub

                Case Else

                                Step="Call Support for further clarification

                                Exit Sub

End select

Subject: [Talk] Record time out

I have a large excel file (14000 records) I am processing in STAR. I know
that I can't complete it all in one day so I want to split it up, but I also
want to the report to generate daily for the entire file. How do I tell the
data station to run until D.record = 2000 and then go to step "GEN Report"?

Thanks,

Reese
