Our standard is to use a "{{}" sequence.give it a try.

Subject: [Talk] How to key { using BWS and Meditech 3.X
Simple, but annoying question. How do you key a "{" char ? If you key or
enter it (either straight text or the char value) it locks up waiting for a
function key sequence. I can't seem to find any documentation about a
leading escape character or something similar to allow me to key it.
