Probably not, and I hope you find a suitable solution, but Gnome + loss of features = why people move away from Gnome. It's become a meme.
I've heard Gnome is better for accessibility and *maybe* HiDPI, but for all the built-in tools (file managers, text editors, terminal / consoles, etc. ad nauseam), the tools are of higher calibre in KDE world. And feature non-removal is, itself, a feature.
