If the disks are destine for the electronic waste bin the lowest tech
solution is a hammer with a sharp pointy end.
Or a hammer and a center punch.
Pierce the cover and bend the disks, at that point only a government
level lab may be able to reconstruct the data.
The same center punch on a chip will also make the data unrecoverable.
Also pounding the crap out of a disk drive is very cathartic.
