I'm using my own Ajax API on a couple of our management systems. It's fun. You still need middleware for db connectivity -- and you'll realistically need backup (ie, normal) solutions if you're not in a closed environment -- but there's a ton of neat tricks you can do (especially if you go more DHTML-heavy), so if you're willing to put in 3-4 times more development time (by my estimates) to make sure all your initiatives are tight, then why not. _______________________________________________ New York PHP Community Talk Mailing List http://lists.nyphp.org/mailman/listinfo/talk
