That was only true of Word 2003; beginning with Word 2007, they added an option 
to prevent all the extra html (which MS called "round trip html") from being 
added.

Absolutely do NOT use word to create html pages. It is horrible and puts in
so much junk that I am not sure you could even use it with screen readers to
get something useful.

You will need to teach yourself. There are good books on bookshare that
teach you html and CSS.
