Hi Guys: After I have turned off the Mouse Voice setting and the Track Mouse With Cursor setting I have not had any phantom reading so far. I have not turned off the Automatically Read baloon Tips yet but may do that later as Rod mentioned. I did route the mouse to the Desktop so it would duplicate one of the prior tests that was reading what was under the mouse and that is seemingly no longer causing a phantom reading of what is under the mouse while the NumPad read mouse keys still work properly as I think Jim had noted. This has been an intermittant problem so I cant say this "fixed" the problem for sure but the past 2 days have been phantom reading free so far. If it comes back I will try turning reading of baloon tips if it is even on - think I may have turned it of some time ago, but so far so good. When I feel comfortable I will switch to Windows 10 and start all over but document what I can this time in case others have problems I will run up against. Hi Rick, One thing you could disable is an option in the Windows Enhanced app, under Toasts and Balloon tips, it may help to disable the first option, Automatically route mouse to toasts and balloon tips. OK: Thinking on this I thought I would first try and figure out where phantom reading might occur and why. First phantom speech could be coming from WE reading something under the Mouse Cursor as Chip mentioned but why would WE read something under the Mouse Cursor if I do not press the mouse, numpad, keys to read anything and, in fact have pressed some standard key on the keyboard? Chip mentioned that WE will try and read, think it was, tool tips automatically which means WE is watching for things to automatically happen on the screen and read something based on screen activity rather than just the press of a keyboard key. Now, I have unchecked the relevant option in the WE Control Panel to disable this from happening but it still happens, errant reading of items from someplace on the screen outside of where focus is suppose to be. It happens in both Internet Explorer and in a standard Desktop Application so not related to Internet Explorer. So, outside of reading Tool Tips automatically, what else is suppose to be read automatically by WindowEyes without being a response to a keyboard action or what may be read under the Mouse or the WE Cursor automatically in response to a non mouse or WE Cursor keyboard event being requested by pressing a Numpad key (mouse cursor or WE Cursor keys)? Knowing just a little about WE Scripting WE has to be executing a speek command at the wrong time to actually speak the phantom item. Could it be WE trying to read something under the Mouse Cursor or WE Cursor or could it be some buffering problem and is there a test I can do to figure out which, or neither, of these may be behind the problem?
