Hi Rick, It was the file explorer sluggishness issue in Windows 10. It wasn't a Window-eyes issue, it was a Microsoft issue. Microsoft has addressed the file explorer issue in the later insider preview builds and the overall responsiveness was vastly improved. Once it goes to the general public the sluggishness in file explorer will go away.
The user was told of the situation and can comment if they wish. I still get the occasional speech loss, very few lockups lately, and still have problems after a computer sleep session but things were so bad a few months ago I almost had to drop WE as a screen reader of choice - now not so much but it needs to be more solid. In any case, what were the results from the test of the laptop problems and what were the problems to begin with? Is it something that could help others like settings?
