Hi Jed,

I'm posting my reply to you to the talk list as well just in case others
might find it of benefit.

By way of a bit of history of my experience of working with email, here
goes. <smile> A few years ago, around 2012, I was forced to transfer all my
archived email from Windows Live Mail to Thunderbird due to the fact that I
could no longer reliably edit email in it because of the kind of
accessibility woes you have described.
Later, Thunderbird began displaying similar, yet not so troubling,
accessibility issues; moreover, eventually, Thunderbird became so totally
frustrating as it kept retrieving from my very reputable Bell Canada email
server messages I had repeatedly deleted.
This was the last straw, and, besides, I had always wanted to embrace the
Microsoft Office suite of programs, specifically, Word and Outlook; my major
reason was that the universal use of Office meant that all screen reader
manufacturers would remain committed to ensuring its accessibility for us.
Since my transition to Outlook, I must say that, although I have had my
frustrations with it, it has been very reliable for my email needs.
Outlook also allows me to review my Twitter tweets through the use of a free
add-on (http://www.techhit.com/TwInbox/twitter_plugin_outlook.html), one
which allows me to read them identically to reading email, namely, using
arrow keys in a folder list.
As a Window-Eyes app developer as well, Microsoft Word, in conjunction with
a Window-Eyes app written by Chip Orange
(http://www.gwmicro.com/App_Central/Apps/App_Details/?scriptid=1238), allows
me to use the VBA integrated development environment to edit my app code in
a very powerful way.
So, with my newest Windows 10 PC, I have subscribed to Office 365 personal,
such that, for seven dollars per month, I have a stable and accessible
software platform.
I hope this answers your question.

All the best for the New Year,

Rod Hutton

I'm surprised to hear you say this, after everyone on this list suggested
thunderbird. Can you fill me in why?

Hi Jed,

If I might be so bold, you would be happier in the long run if you
switch

Hey guys, Alright this is a huge issuee, and it's serious. I have
been having major thunderbird problems, so bad, that for some unknown
reason, it's virtually unusable. I am running we 8.4, cause my
computer is too slow for 9.3. I literally made no changes. I can no
longer focus on the body of an email that i am typing. When i am
typing, it will randomly say control search mode. When i arrow up and
down in the message, it literally says nothing. I have to keep
re-focusing thunderbird, by minimizing everything, then going back to
the message window. This is obviously unacceptable. It can not
continue.Does anyone have any ideas of what to do. I have no idea why
this is happening, and it literally started happening out of nowhere.

It will also start saying while i am typing, stuff like not a vaeven
says stuff like no valid key press, no visited link. Please help. I
also have to keep turning browse mode on and off, i never had to do
this
before.
