Richard,
There is a file named Placemarkers.xml in the Window-Eyes user profile
directory that contains a list of custom place markers. So, if you were to back
this file up before upgrading and then copy it over (overwrite the empty
version) after upgrading, it might do the trick.
Best,
Marc

This evening I installed the upgrade to version 9.5 and this seems to have
remedied the problem.

Even when all is working well, place markers seem to be lost during
upgrades. Is there any way they can be retained through an upgrade?

I have logged out and back in and restarted my computer. This is with We.
9.4. Attempting to access place marker or to create a new marker results in
a error "ding" from the system.

Thanks.

Richard, try loging out and back in again, and maybe this will take care
of the problem. This happens to me more frequently than I like, and this
is the only semi consistent way I can remedy the problem. This sure can
be annoying at times. I haven't tried using any of mine since installing
the new version, so I can't speak to this directly, but give it a try.
