Hi Robin,
If you contact the Window-Eyes support team and provide your serial number,
they can help you get access to a full installer for Window-Eyes 9.5.1. The
keyboard shortcut to launch Narrator in Windows 10 is Windows Key+Enter. Yes,
you can configure Windows 10 to not require a Microsoft account and instead use
a local account for logging in. Here is an article with more information on how
to accomplish this task:

Best,
Marc

Subject: getting my new PC set up

I started up my new Windows 10 laptop last night for the first time. I have a
couple questions, more out of curiosity, since I was able to get my sighted
husband to read the screen to me.

* When I started the PC, it ran through a set of questions to set up
the PC. Should I have been able to use Narrator to read these had my husband
not been there?

* Once I got the Win 10 desktop, I launched Narrator. Seems like it
took a few tries with Windows N, but it did start. That helped me navigate the
menus, but if I get a dialog box, such as an installation dialog, I cannot
figure out how to get Narrator to read the whole dialog so I know what the
buttons mean. Any idea? I need to get Outlook set up so that I can get my
email from AI Squared with the link to the latest WE version. Turns out the
most recent Window Eyes disk I have is 9.0 and I'm getting an error when I try
to load it, so it must not be compatible with my Windows 10. I'm in a bit of a
snag here with not having a Window Eyes CD.

* During the set up process, I was asked for my Microsoft account
information. Since I have an MSN email address, I tried that information and
it worked. I guess that's fine. I figure it's nice to have a password aligned
between email, the store and the cloud storage, should I use it. But my
normally don't put a password on my laptop because it doesn't leave the house.
Should I be able to go into Win 10 settings somewhere and turn this off or
change the password to something easier just for logging into my computer? I
want a strong password for my email, but not for logging into Windows at home.
I like to be able to flip my computer on and either have it go straight to the
desktop or quickly move back the log in screen.

Now here's hoping all goes smoothly with learning Windows 10 and getting my
desktop set up.
