Pam,

I know what you mean and you won't get an argument fro me regarding Windows
Media Player sometimes changing or even being hard to figure out sometimes.
Unfortunately, over the years, I've made other choices only to find that
they changed and even became unuseable sometimes. My point only was that
WMP, if you figure it out, can go right from CD to MP3 and it is already
right there. For example, some years ago, and I don't remember which
software it was now, but all of a sudden it stopped being able to get CD
information because of the CD database changing. It is nice that there are
options.

Happy Holidays,

Steve Jacobson

The problem with windows media player is that every time it updates, things
get changed around and it doesn't behave the same way it did before. Pam.

I have also had pretty good luck with Windows Media Player, although I would
agree with Dave that it isn't always obvious what one should be doing with
that software. I wanted to mention, though, that if one is going to rip a
number of CD's, there is a check box that will cause CD's to be ripped
automatically and converted into the format that is chosen. Also, if you
are focused on the Now Playing window, and you can get there with CONTROL 3,
there is a "Rip" button there as well.

Of course, this is not meant to imply that there is anything wrong with
bringing files into Gold Wave or other editor, I have just found Windows
Media Player to work well once I figured out what to do.

Happy Holidays,

Steve Jacobson

This should not be difficult at all using WMP. Before ripping the cd onto
your hard drive, while in Media Player, press Alt-T for tools, O for
options. Shift tab to the tab controls and right arrow to the rip tab
control. Now tab to the format combo box and select MP three. Tab to OK and
press Enter.

I've been trying to convert a CD to mp3 format using Windows media
player that comes with Windows 7. I'm finding it a good bit more difficult
than it was with XP. Does anyone have any ideas?
