Here's the two steps that were sent to me. They do the trick. Becky works very well but you need to change two settings. In the Tools, General setup dialog on the Message View tab, uncheck the "Control four-way button with arrow keys" check box and the cursor will work when you are reading messages. In the Editor tab in the same dialog, uncheck the Display line pointer option which, if checked, can cover up the first character.
