Dave,
The only time I get the repeating line is when I use read to end and there isn't a blank line below the last line. That last line repeats continually until I silence it. Then I add a blank line and it works fine. You can also try Control-Shift-Escape to open the Task Manager instead of rebooting. The Task Manager should always interrupt all other processes and open. This may stop the repeating speech. If not try hitting Insert-Backslash to refresh the screen. It also refreshes your synthesizer and flushes the speech buffer. Regarding the spell checker? If Jarte is in screen reader mode it should all be in a context menu. Within that menu I get the misspelling followed by a Context pull down. Arrow right and the line containing the misspelling is voiced.
If Jarte is in screen reader mode the title bar should be as follows:
FileName.ext - Jarte Plus (screen reader mode)

I use Jarte all the time. Every day in fact. MS Word is a Bloated Fat

Jarte has everything the average user would ever use.

Two problems I have with it from time to time. One is when I am
switching from Jarte to other programs that are running in the
background, Window Eyes will read and repeat the same line, over ane
over, no matter what keyboard key is pressed. This forces me to just
hit the reset button on the system, because I cannot shut down the
system at this point.

I have yet to pin down what causes this, but it only happens when I am
really flying, switching from one program to another and back again,
repeatedly.

The other thing that happens is fixable, and that is if you attempt to
pull in a Word File that is newer than Word 2003. This can be fixed by
downloading the file converter

Jarte works for me quite well, and it doesn't have those stupid Ribbon
Menus. It has the old fashioned, out of date Pull Down menus.

The Spell Checker is good and works well with Window Eyes.

If there is a AKey Stroke that will read the line where the spelling
error sits, I do not know of it yet. Anyone else know if there is such
a key stroke?

For be Jarte works well.

Now I just wish there was a Spread Sheet program other than Excel, that
was screen Reader Friendly. I could abandon MS Office Entirely.

Grumpy Dave
