David, Tandem is a feature that lets one JAWS users remotely assist another JAWS users. Window-Eyes had a similar feature. I'm not sure why they broke up the installers with and without Tandem other than to bring the installer size down and less to run. You could always switch later if you felt you needed Tandem or you no longer want it.
