I presume that it is because Window-eyes was purchased with the intention of eliminating a competitor so they are unlikely to release a source code for others to develop Window-eyes.
I'm really sorry and a bit fed-up too that Window-eyes is to be discontinued but can see it is a business decision - no different than other take-overs.
