David,
If you do decide to hold a face-to-face meeting, you might want to tack it onto the end of an existing conference which many of you are already attending.

Ideally (from my perspective as the foss4g chair) you will consider foss4g as the perfect conference for a get together. October 20-23 2009. http://2009.foss4g.org

There are "Birds of a Feater" sessions at the foss4g conference set aside for such networking.

Greetings all,

Several of us have just returned from a series of interoperability experiments hosted by the National Defense University and the Naval Postgraduate School focusing on pulling NGOs together in response to disasters. As part of these conversations, yet again, the topic of Open Aerial Map was brought to the forefront. It appears as though there may be an opportunity to provide travel and accommodations support if we were to have a desire/need to have a face-to-face meetup to see what we can do to bring OAM back online in a sustainable (human and technology) fashion. If we were to seek this funding, I would want to be able to go to them with a very clear plan of what we were trying to accomplish. In addition, if there were any "players" in the world that we might want to get involved, this could be a good opportunity to bring them in.

Thoughts?
