I don't think there's a better place to host projects like that, my
first thought having kite photography would be to go to
openaerialmap.org.

True, but then aesthetics isn't the main goal of this project, this
photography still lets you do super exact tracing, is good for hazard
response etc.

Again true, but that's why we have this committee of skilled people
and possibly resources from various istitutions like the NPS.  I'm not
thinking mainly of kite photography but more of municipality level
super-crips 10cm imagery than a city near me owns.
