That sounds like a good reason to try to fix it at a slightly higher level, by having a default that says that everything within certain keys (tourism, historic, amenity, shop, etc) can be both nodes and areas unless explicitly agreed otherwise. Is it possible to get agreement on a bigger scale than making one by one requests for about 50 elements currently on Map Features that can currently only be nodes but could sensibly also be areas?
