tri-hexaflexagons [1] are fun little folds of paper which make a hexagon with three sides (and there are variants with more faces). they were first publicised by Martin Gardner in SciAm's Mathematical Recreations column, which is reprinted in his book [2]. i thought they would look cool with maps on them, with a different style on each face, and could be used as promotional material / toys at mapping parties and conferences. i've put up some instructions on how to make them here [3].
have a go - they're easy to make once you get the hang of it :-) cheers, matt 1. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flexagon#Hexaflexagons 2. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Hexaflexagons-Probability-Paradoxes-Tower-Hanoi/dp/0521735254/ 3. http://blog.cloudmade.com/2008/11/12/hexaflexamaps/ _______________________________________________ talk mailing list talk@openstreetmap.org http://lists.openstreetmap.org/listinfo/talk
