Sorry to follow up my own post - but I forgot to say, this would be aimed more at small scale, specialist sites (e.g. a city, a county or a small country such as England or Wales) rather than say, Europe-, USA-, or world-wide, as it would be required to upload locally-generated tiles onto a server which probably wouldn't be feasible large scale.
