When something exists today, it would be nice to add the date it was 
constructed.
start_date would not be my ideal tag name, but it works.

However I don't think it makes as much sense to add an object that doesn't exist
today.

To be honest the 'start_date' being populated would meet 95% of my personal requirements. But some means of also flagging that a location that I have in historic data IS no longer physically present is the other 5% ... ( actually probably 99.5 to 0.5 )
