Some of this looks like genuine errors, i.e. coordinates messed up of 
stuff that might be missing elsewhere - maybe we need to establish a 
lost-and-found for this kind of thing...

At the poles these are more rarely noticed since they do not show up in 
Mercator projection.  Be careful when cleaning things up though - there 
is also real stuff at the south pole.
