Hi,

I would like to announce that I recently published a first version of a
new open source tool called Jeography. It is basically a tile viewer
with an optional offline search module for places (database required,
can be downloaded and built with a CLI tool). It also offers some
functionality for actions on the current map view's center coordinate
and on selected rectangles / polygons. It still has many rough edges,
but the core functionality is pretty solid. It's Java based and can
also be used for integrating map views in other applications. Here are
