I just wanted to point out that the crowdfunding campaign from the
Nicaraguan OSM community is not to make the first bus map in the
country (we already had a successful campaign that allowed us to achieve
that), but to
* improve the accuracy bus frequency data in Managua by having
  volunteers (who would get stipends) surveying with the Flocktracker
  mobile application
* convert the data into GTFS (a common format for digital public
  transport information)
* make the information publicly available
* assess the impacts of doing so, thanks to the hard work of MIT
  researchers

There are already data collected on bus lines schedules, but our goal
is to make it much more accurate.
