ah ok then well since I only installed the telexy software after talks it should be the second last app in the apps folder. Thanks I should be able to get it back and then I can see if the nokia guy was correct as he reckons he has fixed the problem. he looked at the settings and was a bit surprised the guys at Parramatta did not see it.

If you mute it, it will come back when the phone restart. If you disable Talks, it will not come back when the phone starts. Since you know where to find talks menu, it shouldn't be a problem for you because once you in talks menu, just wait a few second, talks will start to make sound. You Then can proceed to enable talks. However, if you do not enable it, talks will stop talking once you quit menu.

hmmm tricky I know where talks is on the phone second last app installed but
I don't know how many down-arrows the enable talks would be in the menus.
In hindsight I should have just muted talks but was not sure if it would
stay muted when the guy rebooted the phone.

You would have to enter the talks configuration window through the menu
again, since the screenreader is disabled, you wouldn't be able to use the
shortcut in talks. And when you go into the window, enable talks in the
menu.

I took my e72 to a nokia service centre today and before I handed it to
them they asked if I could disable talks I assume this means it won't
reload when I reboot the phone as I have never done this before. will I
need sighted help or is there a keyboard command.
I disabled it from the talks window and options.
