Hi Jim, Taking off the back cover of the N86 is a little tricky because it's difficult to know where it separates from what would be the back of the phone at the top. I've found some small indentations near the bottom of the back cover that require a little fingernail power as you also push the cover toward the bottom of the phone. The cover takes up about three-fourths of the back of the phone and I've learned that you can't force it but you do have to be firm. Try using one hand to find those little slots on the sides and the other to push the back cover toward the bottom of the phone. If you can just lift one corner of the cover, at the bottom on the left or right side, it should work. Remember, the back cover is very thin. I hope this helps some.
