Well that depends on what version of Talks you are upgrading from and what
programs you use on the phone.
As a example: The Internet Radio works better with the 5.21.3 version of
Talks.
Probably outside of that, there isn't a lot of changes if any for that
phone.

Hardware eventually fails, software eventually works.
No amount of bandwidth can fix poor design.

Are there any gains for an N86 user to make it worth the hassle of
upgrading?

Just put the Talks.sys file on the memory card then go to File Manager
and select it and install from there over the current Talks. As simple as
that. Just listen when it is installing and accept everything by pressing
select or soft key one. At times it will be silent for many seconds while
it is installing.

Thank you, Eleanor and Stephen. I downloaded the latest version of
Talks
from
blindsea.com, but can't find anything in the manual explaining how to
install the upgrade. Talks was already installed when I received my
phone,
and I've had no experience installing software on a cell phone.
Where can I find installation instructions for the updated version?
Thanks,
Paula

The latest version will work with your N86. You should be able to
download
a Word Talks Manual. If you download from TalkNav or Blindsea websites.
The former has individual files and the latter a zipped file.

Subject: [Talks] Using Talks with an N86 Phone
Hello,
I purchased a used n86 a few months ago, which included the Talks
screen
reader. I downloaded the manual from the website, but have had
difficulty
making sense out of it. Part of the problem is that the file has a lot
of
ornamentation characters, so when I try to read it on my BrailleNote
it's
hard to find the information I need. Does anyone know where I can get
more
information on how to use the program, particularly with tasks such as
setting alarms?
Also, does the latest version of Talks work with the N86? I think I'm
one version behind now.
Thanks,
Paula Muysenberg
