I do not have an N86 but I know Maurice on the list does, Maurice would you
be able to help this list member out. In the meantime I will give you a
rough idea of how to do this.
At the home screen press the Menu key and arrow to Settings or maybe it may
be Tools in your case. If Tools, then arrow to settings. On selecting
settings, arrow to General, that is the first on my list but I am looking at
an N95 Standard. From General choose Personalisation. Again this is the
1st on my list when I have selected General. Now look for standby mode It
is the 2nd down on my phone. Now once this is selected make sure active
standby is off and if not toggle it off. now arrow down to shortcuts. Now
I hear Talks say in my case left selection key contacts, so for example if I
want to change this I select it and now I hear Talks say left selection key
contacts one of one hundred. I am now in a long list, 100 in my case of
possibles. You decide what you want the left selection key to be arrow down
through the list and when you are on the one you want press the selection
key. Once that is done you want to arrow back again to that screen where all
the current shortcut keys are so I think that might mean you pressing soft
key 2 twice to arrow back out. Now just one point when you have made your
selection out of the 100 keys you will press soft key one to select or
verify it. See how this goes and if it is too confusing I will abbreviate
it for you or you can contact me off list.

Subject: [Talks] N86 and shortcuts
I am trying to change keypad shortcuts at the standby screen on my N86. So,
leftt selection key is menu, and right selection key is contacts. That’s
ok. I changed shortcut 4 was changed to bleutooth, 5 to new message, and
shortcut 6 is Knfb reader. With the exception of selection key 1 and
selection key 2 nothing appears to get changed in the square where you have
the arrow keys and the enter key. Am I end the wrong area to change keypad
shortcuts?
