than anyone else, i.e. the standout difference. It is a concise statement of 
your definable and defendable differences. More than 80% of salespeople fail 
to differentiate themselves from their competitors. It could be that the 
customer’s 
price objection is another way of saying, “The reason we won’t pay more to 
buy from you is that we don’t see a significant worth of difference between 
you and your competitors.” The fact that you cannot articulate the differences 
between your product and your competitors does not mean that you are not 
different. 
It means that you either do not know what makes you different or you have not 
perfected your message. Ultimately, to succeed and to move forward, you must 
adhere to this professional mindset. The next time your customer asks you, 
“Aren’t you and your competitors in the same business?” answer them by saying, 
“We’re in the same industry but we are not in the same business and here is 
why, …”.
