Hello, Tango Lovers! This is an update for the CITA-2000 (Congreso Internacional de Tango Argentino) which is organized by "COSMO TANGO" and will take place in Buenos Aires the week of March 12 - March 19, 2000.
Here's the updated list of our master teachers: Men: Gustavo Naveira, Fabian Salas, Mariano "Chicho" Frumboli, Norberto "El Pulpo" Esbrez, Mauricio Castro. Women: Cecilia Gonzalez, Giselle Anne, Lucia Mazer. Couples: Osvaldo Zotto & Lorena Ermocida, Julio Balmaceda & Corina, Nito & Elba, Rodolfo & Maria Cieri, Facundo & Kely, Esther & Mingo Pugliese, El Indio & Mariana Dragone, Eduardo Capussi & Mariana Flores, Rodolfo & Gloria Dinzel, Fernanda Ghi & Guillermo Merlo. Several other world-class Argentine maestros are being invited to teach and perform at the CITA. We'll have 4 distinct-style orchestras performing at the CITA-2000: 1. "Color Tango" (Pugliese style). 2. "Los Reyes del Tango" (DÂ’Arienzo style-the favorites of the CITA-99 participants) 3. "Gente de Tango" (Di Sarli style) 4. "Sexteto Sur". Two (yes, 2) interchanging orchestras will be performing at the milongas nightly. The milongas will be organized in coordination with the owners/organizers of the best milongas of Buenos Aires - thus assuring a great participtaion of the local tango communities. CITA-99 members, if you think that the performances at the milongas and at the two shows last March were great, "you ain't seen nothing yet"! The schedule of classes with all the different styles, levels, specialties, etc. is in the works, and will be available on our Web site in late January or early February. We are improving the schedule from the CITA-99 based on the excellent input received from both the students and the master teachers. We'll do our best in maintaining the gender balance for the classes, including hiring "taxi" dancers in Buenos Aires to fill the lead and follow roles. The class sizes will be strictly controlled to prevent over-crowding and the gender imbalance. The teachers, who do not speak English, will be provided with competent translators. Registration fee is $550 per person until December 31st, 1999. It will be $650 starting January 1st, 2000. Special discounts ($50 per person) are available for groups (10+) or couples or CITA-99 members. Additional $50 discount per person is available for using the Solar Tours (Tel: 1-800-388-7652 ext.553, Fax:1-703-876-9709, E-mail: [email protected], promotion code: "CITA-2000", attention: Lily Rojas) to purchase airfare (+hotel) package. The best prices on hotels (all within close walking distances of Club Espanol - the CITA-2000 central venue) are guaranteed only until January 15th, 2000. Here's an example of a package from Solar Tours: $1000 (one thousand US dollars) per person includes round-trip airfare to Buenos Aires from New York City on United Airlines AND 8 (eight) nights at Castelar Hotel (double occupancy rate) including daily breakfast and all the hotel taxes (which are around 21% - beware of the Internet prices that don't include the taxes). Based on this example, a couple that registers for the CITA-2000 and purchases the airfare+hotel package from Solar Tours before December 31st, would only pay $1450 X 2 = $2900. Food and drinks are extra! We do provide water coolers at the classes. Please keep in mind that this is only an example. Exact aifare and hotel prices will depend on your itinerary (city of departure, chosen airline, additional airport taxes, etc.). Solar Tours can offer excellent prices on United Airlines, American Airlines, Aerolinias Argentinas, and other airlines. They also offer a choice of 3-star, 4-star, and 5-star hotels. The group rates on hotels for any CITA-2000 member are only guaranteed until January 15th and only through Solar Tours. Please contact Lily Rojas at Solar Tours directly and mention the "CITA-2000" promotional code. Lily ([email protected]) will be on vacation during the Christmas season, so please contact her early in advance to get the best rates.
